Categories & Collections: The Complete Guide
Categories are how you organize a gallery into sections. This is the complete guide to working with them — adding, renaming, reordering, and everything you can do with the photos and video inside.
Two kinds of sections
Every section in a gallery is one of two types:
- Collection — a regular photo grid section (e.g. "Ceremony", "Reception", "Portraits")
- Featured Video — a section that holds exactly one video, shown prominently instead of a photo grid. Uploading video requires a Pro plan or above.
All of a gallery's sections — Collections and Featured Video sections together — live on one page: the Collection tab. Every section shows as an expandable card, in order; clicking a category in the left sidebar scrolls to and expands that section on the same page.
Adding a section
Open the gallery, go to the Collection tab, and click Add category (the + button). Choose New Collection or New Featured Video. For a Collection, just enter a name. For a Featured Video, enter a name and upload a video.
Renaming a section
Click into the section to open it, then use its ⋮ menu → Rename.
Reordering sections (drag and drop)
Each section has a drag handle. Click and hold the handle, then drag the section up or down to reorder it among the others. Collections and Featured Video sections can be mixed in any order — there's no rule that all Collections have to come before Featured Video sections or vice versa.
Drag-and-drop reordering saves automatically as soon as you drop — there's no separate save button to click.
Deleting a section
Open its ⋮ menu → Delete. This deletes everything inside it too — every photo in a Collection, or the video in a Featured Video section — and can't be undone.
Reordering photos within a Collection (drag and drop)
Inside a Collection, click and drag any photo to a new position in the grid to reorder it. Just like sections, this saves automatically the moment you drop it.
Moving photos between Collections
Select one or more photos using their checkboxes, click Move, and choose the destination Collection. Photos can only be moved into other Collection sections — not into Featured Video sections, since those only hold a single video.
Hiding, deleting, and replacing photos
- Hide — click the hide icon on a photo to hide it from clients without deleting it; you can unhide it later
- Delete — click the delete icon to permanently remove a photo
- Replace — click the replace icon to swap in a new image without losing its place in the order
Working with Featured Video
A Featured Video section always holds at most one video. Open the section and use Replace video to swap it for a different one, or Remove to clear it out. Video length limits depend on your plan — Pro allows up to 1 hour, Pro Max up to 2 hours, Ultimate up to 4 hours, and Unlimited up to 8 hours.
